NC State Poole College of Management announces Jonathan Bohlmann, professor of marketing and innovation, as head of the department of business management following an internal search. Bohlmann has served as interim department head since September 2021, replacing Sebastian Heese who previously served in that role.
As department head, Bohlmann will work closely with Dean Frank Buckless and will be responsible for the administration of the department and provides leadership in all aspects of the department’s activities. Other duties include performance evaluations, curriculum assessment and revision, promoting external relations with the business community, and representing the department in college and university-level planning and strategy development.

Bohlmann joined Poole College in 2008 as an associate professor of marketing and previously held assistant professor of marketing positions at Michigan State University and Purdue University. His research focuses on innovation, new product development, design thinking and marketing and has been published in the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Product Innovation Management and Journal of Marketing.
In 1996, Bohlmann received his PhD in marketing from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also earned an MBA from Texas Christian University in 1991 as well as a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in aerospace engineering from Purdue University.
